I think this is going to get a little preachy, which bothers me a bit. I want to speak to you and not lecture. I'd rather council people, not push them. I'd rather teach them how to walk, not tell them where. Unfortunately, I had a conversation with a teenager, and she was bothered by another conversation she was forced to witness about eating pork. During the course of this chat, the one against pork called Isaiah 66:17 into the conversation. No. I'm not gonna drop any names. This conversation (there were transcripts) annoyed me on many levels, and reminded me of why I sometimes take issue with religion. I'm only one man, and my opinions are just that. Nobody is different in that respect, and ninety-six percent of what they think are opinions too.
That having been said, I believe scripture is meant to give us Hope. That was only an opinion. I also believe when a person uses scripture to bind us, guilt us into acting against our better instincts, or control us in any other fashion, Hope is being diminished. That was also an opinion. Like with all opinions, its purpose isn't meant to impede your judgment. Like with every **, I'm just a man with something to say. What I say or how I say it isn't as important as what you might gleam from it.
Let me ask you a question boys and girls. God was supposed to make us in his image, wasn't he? Was God one with the sheep? Did he graze outside and eat grass on the seventh day? Did we suddenly become expected to act like sheep? No. We were always meant to be noble in reason, and infinite in faculties (thanks Willy). In apprehension, weren't we supposed to be like a God? We were supposed to be born in his image, so that would make sense. So why do so many of us follow or push scriptures so vehemently?
Now about the pigs...
What makes a pig unclean, tell me. Because they roll around in mud. Okay... Pigs have no sweat glands, so they have to roll in the mud to keep cool. Bigots. Do we not take mud baths because it's better for the skin; or to be more specific, because it makes the skin look better? Between man and pigs, pigs aren't being vain. Pigs eat garbage, or they eat their own feces (my least favorite word). Okay... Garbage was man's creation, and man trained the pig to eat whatever we fed them. Unfortunately, that does include their own crap at times. This shouldn't surprise anyone. Rabbits have to eat their diet a second time all the time to keep from starving.
Anyway... I think I'm gonna make an omelet for breakfast tomorrow.
Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything.
